Carolinas Chapter

 

Brothers and Sisters in Christ -

 

I write as dean of the chapter to invite you to the Lenten Retreat of the Carolinas Chapter of the Society of the Holy Trinity, convening at the Saint Christopher Conference Center, Seabrook Island , South Carolina , March 5-6, 2012.  One can register after 1:30 p.m. on the 5th.   We will begin with worship at 2:30 p.m. on the 5th.

 

Beyond our times of prayer and contemplation, we shall examine and study several papers that have been featured in the Center for Theology colloquia this academic year.I shall email copies in advance to those who register, as they register with Beverly Hefner, Administrative Assistant for the Departments of Music and Religion.

 

Cost is $ 85.00 (single occupancy, including supper and breakfast).  Double occupancy is $ 57.50 (per person, includes supper and breakfast).  Spouses are welcome. Please specify if you wish single or double occupancy.  Unless you indicate a roommate preference (or a single room), Ms. Hefner and I will assign roommates.  For anyone staying off campus, evening meal is $ 15.00.  Breakfast is included in room cost, so I’ll have to inquire about “separate” breakfast costs.

 

We need at least 20 persons to meet our agreed-upon number.  We need to give a firm number of participants to the Conference Center by February 10th.  Please email or call your reservations as soon as possible to one of the following addresses or numbers:

As is our custom and is the Rule, we will pray the daily office. In addition to prayer and study, we shall conduct a Tuesday morning chapter meeting.   Our own Carl Voges, Vicar of the Society, will represent the Senior. Please make every effort to attend.  Attending the retreats is a vital part of our commitment to the Rule.  We come together to pray and to study.

Directions to Saint Christopher Center are as follows:

               

 

 

Directions from Interstate 26

 

·               Take I-26 to Charleston .

·               Exit right onto I-526  (that is also exit for airport)

·               Stay on I-526 … dead end at US Hwy 17 … turn right…. follow signs for Savannah .

·               Less than 5 miles … turn left onto Main Road (see Hess Station, Burger King, & brown sign for State Park) …

·               Follow Main Road to traffic circle (16-17 miles) … take “Seabrook sign” at first turn off  just before entering traffic circle. Onto Seabrook Island Road .

·               ¼th  Mile, then check in with security guard, and let him know that you are going to Saint Christopher (The absolute speed limit on Seabrook Island Road is 25 mph … $250 fine!)

·               A couple of miles  (about 2.3 miles) … see low sign off to right indicating for Saint Christopher Conference Center.
